"Total Freedom"

Please pray as our church in Brazil is preparing for their 3rd annual winter Bible Club. This year is our first year in an actual church building. We are so thankful to be able to be indoors as it is often cold and rainy during this time of year.

The move we made to the rented building, although only 1 KM from our original location, placed us in a different neighborhood. So, we had to change the name of our church from being the Baptist Church of Serraria, to Redemption Baptist Church. In honor of our church's new name, it was decided that a redemption themed club would be appropriate.

Our theme will be Total Freedom and we will focus on the Exodus.
  • Pray that we will reach many new families and share with them the Total Freedom found in Christ alone.
  • Please pray for David & Sharon as they bear the full weight of this years' program.
  • Pray for our new believers who are learning to serve the Lord.
  • Pray as invitations will be passed out on Saturday.
  • Pray for the club next Friday-Sunday, July 29-31.

Highlights from Conference

It was so neat to be able to attend the Annual BMM Conference with James' parents, Phil & Mary Ruth Taylor, along with his sister Rachel. This year was a special year for Phil & Mary Ruth as they were celebrating 35 years serving with BMM in Brazil.

It was so special to be there with them as they received their pin and were honored for their commitment to the Lord.

As they joined with other missionaries who were recognized, it was inspiring to see missionaries stretched across the front of the Auditorium representing more than 1,500 hundred years of missionary service all over the world.

It has been a great week of fellowship and a wonderful reminder that our trials are common to man. Each of these people face the same situations we do and are trusting the same God we are. I am so thankful to be a part of a family like this that loves the Lord and His Gospel so passionately.

We enjoyed some great family time, celebrating a little early Mary Ruth's birthday and just being together. We learned together, worshiped together and talked late into the night in our hotel rooms!

A highlight for me was seeing dear friends from college. It is so fun to see who God brings together. I am so amazed at how much they edify me as we talk and am thankful for the godly women that God has allowed me to be friends with.

As Jen, Cherith and I caught up on each others lives, we looked up and saw our three boys chasing each other around. (They could hardly stop playing to line up for a picture:) How neat to see the next generation bonding!!

A final highlight of the conference is to meet some of the up coming missionaries. The last night BMM presented the candidate class for 2011. It so exciting to see how God is calling people to serve. We especially enjoyed meeting the Pittmans, who will be coming to Brazil and working about 3 hours north of us.

Thanks to everyone from the home office and area churches who made this week so special for us. We praise the Lord for you and are so thankful to be counted as your friends and co-workers.

Thoughts from the Conference

You all know the story of the Good Samaritan. Jesus told that story to a Pharisee who knew the law of God and obeyed it to the best of his ability. He was righteous in his own eyes. He looked right, and sounded right but he had missed the whole point of loving God.

If we lose love for people in our ministry we are done.
Unfortunately instead of loving God and others, we love:
our ministry,
the chase,
the building,
the challenge,
the going,
ourselves.

But often we have gotten so busy serving God we've forgotten to love Him as well as others.

Love is inconvenient
Love takes risks
Love is dirt
Love is costly
Love is exactly what Jesus did.

This kind of love, what Jesus taught in Luke 10, is ONLY possible when a person has experienced the love of Christ through salvation.
It is a result of an intimate walk with Christ.
It is INCARNATIONAL.

Do I know the Love of Christ personally?
Yes.
Then I can truly love others.

Lord, help me. Help me to love YOU with all of my heart, and soul and mind and strength. And help my love for You overflow into a pure love for others.
