Standing Firm in Trials

I just read this amazing summary of how we can remain firm in our trials while waiting on His faithfulness.

Don't...
...be shocked
...be discouraged
...think you're the only one to suffer or have shortcomings.

Do...
...realize your weaknesses
...turn to God for help in resisting temptation.

Do count on God's faithfulness to...
...assist you in facing your problems and remaining strong in them.
...keep your problems from becoming more than you can endure.
...protect you from unbearable temptations.
...make ways for you to escape if situations become unbearable.

Don't forget to do your part in your trials. You are to...
...exhibit self-discipline
...recognize the people and situations that tempt you to sin
...run from all that is wrong
...choose to do only what is right
...seek friends who love God and will help you when you're tempted
...pray for God's help.

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man;
and God is FAITHFUL,
who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able,
but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also,
so that you will be able to endure it.
I Corinthians 10:13

Ministry Update

Since we left Brazil a lot has been happening.

The first big praise is that we were able to rent a meeting place for our church.

One of the men ran across this building and when David saw it he just knew this is where God was leading us. We all prayed as a price was settled on and it fit within our budget. It is so amazing as just before we left, James and David drove through this area looking for property and rentals and were very impressed with the new developments in this area.

The Second big praise is that one man in our church was able to get his work place to donate room dividers that go from floor to ceiling. The approximately 1,4000 square feet is divided into a worship area, 3 classrooms, and a bathroom.

Two of our men along with a newer contact setting up the room dividers

Saturday a group came out to clean and get everything set up for our
first service in the new building!

The Third big praise is that New Life Baptist church in Curitiba, which merged with a sister church early this year, donated all their chairs as well as several tables to us. We are so thankful that David was able to pick those up last week for the opening of the new building.

First service in our new building - June 26, 2011!

Winter officially started last week in Brazil. Meeting in a garage through the winter would have seriously affected our attendance and the bringing of visitors over the next 3 months. We praise the Lord for his PERFECT timing in all of this.

The Fourth big praise is that one of the husbands of our ladies has recently begun a Bible study with David. He is showing a real hunger for the Word of God and is participating in our services. Please pray that he will soon be saved that this family would be united in Christ.

The Fifth big praise is that 3 of our ladies, along with Sharon, have started a 3 week teaching program with Child Evangelism Fellowship. Saturday they went for the first class and they have 2 more weeks left. Please pray that they would be able to complete the program.

We are so excited to see God working and are praying earnestly for them. Please keep praying for this young church that Christ would be glorified in them.

Furlough Fun!!

I thought I would post some pictures about what we are doing during our time with my parents here in Texas.

We are still riding bikes like crazy, and "Super Grandma" has come to the rescue several times for bike repairs!

We got a chance to go to NASA and had lots of fun playing, exploring, and learning.

Yes, that is our little Hannah way up on the rock wall! She was like a little monkey. Both her and Daniel were able to make it to the top.

Saturday we were able to go to Home Depot for a kids project. It was great to see Daniel and Hannah make the project on their own.

Jeremiah LOVED using a real "knocker." When we got back home, he filled his tool box up with nails and went around hammering with a plastic hammer fixing things.

Sunday evening after church Daniel got a scholarship to go to camp. He was SOOOOO excited. I was so proud of his attitude and excitement. I am not sure I would have the courage to go camp not knowing anyone. We are praying that he has a great week, makes some good friends and comes to love the Lord more deeply.

Tuesday evening Hannah & Jeremiah got their leapsters in the mail and have so much fun figuring things out. So far their favorite part is playing with their electronic pet, especially giving him bathes.

Sunday James is going to preach in the morning service and then present God's work in Brazil in the evening. Pray that he has wisdom as he shares.

Saying Good-bye

Well, today is the day! We have about 6 hours till we leave for the airport and 8 hours till we should be in the air on our way home.

Four years has flow by. We just finished up our presentation and it is amazing how much the kids have changed, really how much all of us has grown physically and spiritually.

Yesterday was kind of our marathon of good-byes.

Thankfully our kids were able to spend a little more time playing with their closest friends.

We had a family stop by during the afternoon to say their good-byes.

A special time of repairing and flying kites with Uncle David.
(Jer has turned into a kite fanatic)

We had a wonderful last church service.

Followed by a farewell party.

A beautiful cake made by Sharon.

One of our ladies said, it is not "Adeus" it is "Ate breve"
So, see you soon beloved church family.
We praise the Lord for His marvelous work in each of your lives.

Ladies Night Out

Last night we had our ladies Bible study at a coffee shop. It was so much fun to take the ladies out and do something new.

For all but one, it was their first time to a coffee shop. To see the looks on their faces when our cappucinos arrived piled high with whipped cream was priceless.

After enjoying our drinks, we had our bible study on I Peter 2:1-3. Each of us was challenged to put off the old sinful habit of our flesh and seek after the Word of God like a new born baby.

It was such a fun and encouraging time. I am so thankful for this last special outing with our ladies. It is amazing how God has blessed us with these women over the past year and a half. To see them accept Christ, grow in the Lord and reach out to others is such a blessing.
