Fall Update

I wanted to catch you up on our travels and activities these past few weeks.                       Living in one place for the past 2 months has been a blessing for our kids.  They have had lots of opportunities to make friendships.  Living on the church property has given them plenty of space for riding bikes and exploring.

Here are some highlights:

Hannah has really enjoyed bonding with one of the pastor's daughters here.  They especially had fun hanging around at a recent birthday party!!

Daniel has been working on his driving skills:)

Jeremiah has been helping catch ducks and chickens:)

We've enjoyed some beautiful fall days at the WONDERFUL parks in America.

We had a swinging good time catching up with old friends.

We really enjoyed monkeying around in Louisville!
I enjoyed catching up with my childhood Pastor, who has served faithfully at the same church for 35 years!

Talking a walk in the park with my Grandma!

Growing in the Knowledge of God

It is so encouraging to hear how our people in Brazil are growing in the Lord.

Recently at church, David asked if anyone would share a verse that God had been using in their lives. Right away Valeria stood up and shared a verse from Philippians 4. It is exciting to know that she is digging into the Word on her own.

She had a Jehovah’s Witness come to her home recently. She asked them, “What do you think is the most important thing the Bible has to say?” They struggled for a few minutes not really sharing anything specific. She then went to share two verses from Philippians that showed her belief that Christ’s death and resurrection are the most important things in the Bible.

We are encouraged to see how cross-centered our people are becoming!

Is there a more firm foundation for all of the Christian life than this?

But everything that was gain to me, I have considered to be a loss because of Christ. More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Because of Him I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them filth, so that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own from the law, but one that is through faith in Christ – the righteousness from God based on faith. My goal is to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.

A Fall Day to Remeber

I just had to share this wonderful fall day with you all!

We are in Chicago staying with some dear friends and have had such a fun day. James started the day early, heading to Libertyville, IL to run a half-Marathon.While he was out running, we enjoyed some leaves.
The sights, sounds and smells are just incredible!

I couldn't get Jer into the leaves so the tree picture will have to work!

After lunch we headed into downtown Chicago and went to Millennium Park. The first thing we saw was a huge protest that ended up looking like a parade. Everyone waving their signs and shouting their feelings.

We continued on our way to the icon of Chicago, The BEAN.

Since all of humanity loves to look at themselves, this reflective bean is a HUGE hit!
Check out the amazing skyline behind James.

Next we headed down to the river, and off to Navy Pier on a water taxi!

The ship was good to it's name, and we arrived" lickety split!!"

Here at Navy Pier, Jeremiah finally realized his dream of riding a carousal.
He was barely tall enough to ride alone.

Hannah enjoyed her trip as well, making a new friend before the ride even began.

Daniel and Michael had a swinging good time on the swings!

On our way home we stopped by the Sears Tower.
The tallest building in the USA.

We headed home and had some Chicago style, YUMMMMMYYYY pizza,
and then finished off the night with smores!

Who could ask for a more perfect fall day???

Special Memories in Ohio

After we left D.C., we headed back to Ohio to see my Aunt and Uncle as well as my cousins and their families. Becky, me, Aunt Donna & Leah

We were excited to have the chance to celebrate David's 10th birthday together with them. His mom booked two hotel suites and we had a boys room and girls room and spent the night having so much fun.

Daniel really enjoyed being around cousins his own age and had a hard time leaving. He was excited to hear we would be seeing them again in a month!!
Jeremiah and Ayden really had fun together.
Here they were pretending to be dogs :)
Cousins are so much fun!
They all hit it off so well together. You never would have been able to tell that they hadn't seen each other for 4 years. Here I found them all piled on the bed together watching cartoons.

I couldn't post this without getting Uncle Gary in on the action too!!! He has such a gift with children and is a friend to everyone. It was so nice to catch up with him while we were there too.
We finished off our time in Ohio by worshiping at Fellowship Baptist Church in Dublin. My Grandpa started that church 30 years ago along with my Aunt & Uncle. We are so blessed to be supported by this church today. We are looking forward to being back with them again for their anniversary weekend.

Ohio or Bust!!

Last Saturday we left Memphis and headed Northeast to Bolivar, Ohio. We really enjoyed our fellowship at Faith Baptist. We had some great conversations with Pastor Stanfill. James and he really hit it off and even got to enjoy a Monday morning run together before we headed off for Washington D.C.

I was so thankful to get to know Mrs. Stanfill. She graciously gave me some piano pointers that will help me out when we are back in Brazil.

Monday morning we headed off to D.C. and enjoyed a beautiful drive through Northern Maryland and into Virginia. The leaves have just begun to change and are glorious.

We got to our hotel and quickly made our way to the Lincoln Memorial. We really enjoyed seeing some of our great American heritage.
Tuesday we visited two of the Smithsonian museums.

The Natural History Museum was a huge hit, Daniel could have stayed there for a week!

Until we arrived at the Air & Space museum:)

We also got to see the White House

We saw lots of amazing sights, our kids LOVED all the squirrels busily working before winter arrives!

Squirrel??? Squirrel??? Squirrel???

We are so thankful we were able to take this quick trip to see this amazing city.
We'll update you soon on our visit with my Aunt & Uncle and my cousins too!!
